Agneta Stark left a position as Guest Professor in Gender and Economic Change at Linkoping University in 2004 to become President of Dalarna University, Sweden. Her research focuses gender aspects of work (paid and unpaid in all forms), of economic theory, and of international comparisons of work and living standards. She has also worked on gender mainstreaming in national budgets in different countries, and has lectured extensively in Nordic and European countries on gender and economic issues. She chairs the Research Council of the National Swedish Board of Consumer Policies, is a member of the Gender Equality Council of the Swedish National Agency of Higher Education. She is a feminist activist, and was a founding member of the network The Support Stockings, that in the first half of the 1990's campaigned in Sweden for increased representation of women in the government and parliament. In Reversing the gaze: global perspectives on Nordic approaches to gender equality (forthcoming) she and Naila Kabeer have worked with a group of researchers from Pakistan, Iran, Argentina, Mexico, Hungary, Nigeria, South Africa and India who have all reflected on the Nordic experiences of gender equality , using their own long-standing professional and personal experiences. With Nancy Folbre and Lois Shaw she guest edited the Special Issue of Feminist Economics "Gender and Ageing" (July 2005) and contributed the article AWarm Hands in Cold Age B On the Need of a New World Order of Care@, and was Associate Editor of Feminist Economics 2003-2006. She is now on the journal's Editorial Board. She has served two terms on the Board of IAFFE, has worked on the strategic planning issues of the organisation and is a member of the Finance Committee. One of her priorities is to strengthen the links between IAFFE and SIDA (Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency).
