Ann Mari May has been a member of the
faculty of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln since 1987 where she is an associate
professor of economics, member of the women’s studies faculty, and holds a
courtesy appointment in the history department. She has received numerous
teaching awards including Nebraska Professor of the Year (CASE) Award, Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching; the Outstanding Teaching
and Instructional Creativity Award (OTICA) 1997-98; and is listed as one of UNL's “Best Professors” in Lisa Birnbach’s New and Improved College Book, 1992.
She is a member of the Academy of Distinguished Teachers at the University
of Nebraska-Lincoln. Her research interests are in the area of US economic history
and focus on the history of women and higher education, feminist economics,
and political economy. She teaches courses in nineteenth and twentieth century
US economic history, history of women and work in the US, and a Ph.D. seminar
on feminist economics. She is committed to advancing the scholarship of teaching,
believing that the best teachers are active and engaged scholars.
