S. Charusheela is Associate Professor, Women's Studies, University of Hawaii at Manoa. Her research focuses on the intersection between postcolonial thought and political economy, with particular attention to the epistemology, ontology and ethics of feminist development economics. Her publications include articles such as "On History, Love and Politics," "Women's Choices and the Ethnocentrism/Relativism Dilemma," and "Empowering Work? Bargaining Models Reconsidered." Her co-edited volume, Postcolonialism meets Economics, (with Dr. Zein-Elabdin), and book, Structuralism and Individualism in Economic Analysis, are both published by Routledge. Charu is a long-standing and active member of IAFFE, having served on the IAFFE Board, the Rhonda Williams Scholarship Committee, the Nominations Committee, the International Committee, the Membership Committee, and the Editorial Board of Feminist Economics. She thus brings considerable experience and continuity to her candidature. She is also an active member of other organizations, such as the Association for Economic and Social Analysis (AESA), having served on the editorial board of their journal, Rethinking Marxism. Most recently, she organized the South Asian Feminist pre-conference at the 2005 South Asia Conference at Madison, USA.
