The University of Sydney is proposing to advertise a two-year position in Political Economy to lecture in units at second year level and fourth year level of study. The teaching responsibilities will be concentrated in two programs: 'Social Foundations of Modern Capitalism', which draws on Marxist, feminist and Polanyi approaches to develop an appreciation of the embeddedness of economic processes in institutions (capital, labour, the family and the state) and social and political forces (class, gender, culture, and to a lesser extent race and ethnicity), and 'Theories of Social Formations', a methods course that introduces advanced students to a number of debates within Marxism, feminism and post-Marxism. The teaching would commence in March 2005. |
