Alicia Giron

Alicia Girón is a dedicated economist with a PhD. in Latin American Studies, Professor and Researcher of the Economic Research Institute (IIEc) and tutor of postgraduate programs in Economics and Latin America Studies of the National University of Mexico (UNAM). Her latest research in gender is focus on the impact of the financial crisis and the stabilization programs in Mexican and Latin American women since the IMF Austerity programs. She is president of the International Association of Feminist Economics 2014-2015. Former director of the Economic Research Institute where she founded the electronic Journal “Ola Financiera”. Director of the Journal “Problemas del Desarrollo, Revista Latinoamericana de Economía”, principal Journal of the IIEc. Visiting professor at the Institute of Social Science of Tokyo University in Japan, the Department of Economics of UMKC, Institute of Latin America of the Chinese Academy of Social Science (CASS) and Universidad Complutense in Madrid, Spain. She was nominated by the president of UNAM in charge of 'The Asian Studies Seminar of UNAM'.
