About IAFFE

International Association for Feminist Economics (IAFFE) is a global community of scholars, policy professionals, students, advocates, and activists committed to advancing gender justice and feminist economic inquiry. Founded in 1992 after a group of women economists gathered at the American Economic Association Conference, IAFFE has grown to include approximately 650 members across 64 countries.

MISSION STATEMENT

IAFFE is an open, diverse, global community of scholars, activists, policymakers, and practitioners that advances feminist economic inquiry and policy analysis on economic, political, and social issues through knowledge creation, advocacy, publication platforms, conferences and capacity-building activities. Our mission is to further research in feminist economics and its applications, respecting social identities, enhancing planetary justice, empowering our members, and transforming the global economy through feminist values.

IAFFE envisions a world where feminist economics is central to global economic thinking and policy-making, leading to a caring, just and inclusive world.

OUR VALUES

IAFFE believes that economic theory and policy-making must advance gender justice in rights, resources, responsibilities and agency. We encourage interdisciplinary dialogue and scholarship to challenge traditional paradigms. We develop diverse perspectives representing various intersectional identities to promote solidarity, equity, and build a strong, supportive community of scholars, activists, and policymakers in pursuit of IAFFE’s vision. We prioritize justice in economic policies and practices, especially for marginalized and underrepresented people and recognize that this will require disruption as essential to the transformation of policies, practices, and systems.
