IAFFE Network for Graduate Studies in Feminist Economics

IAFFE is building a global network of feminist economics-friendly graduate programs and individuals to connect and implement cooperative activities to train the future generation of feminist economics.

There are very few universities and departments of economics that provide training in feminist economics, and people interested in studying feminist approaches to economics often do not know how to get started.

Many feminist economists are isolated – being the only one in their institutions (or in some cases, one of the only feminist economists in the entire country). As part of this initiative, IAFFE proposes to pull together a consortium of feminist economics- friendly programs to pursue cooperative programs.  The plan is to start with graduate-level first and engage all levels when it is time.

We envision this would involve shared resources, student exchanges and faculty visits, joint research,  joint courses – or joint degree programs across institutions, and similar activities. Cooperative initiatives would allow pooling resources and expertise among institutions that may be at the early stages of establishing programs in feminist economics. This network would also assist other institutions that want to establish similar programs.

Network Launch

The network was launched on May 20, 2025 with  a successful kick-off meeting with representatives from 22 programs worldwide, who generated numerous ideas for collaborative activities. Network Members (updated regularly) Our current members are from 23 programs from  all parts of the world. https://airtable.com/appPuDi7pzPIKZYAs/shrB8pYRSleJpHiXS
